Accessing Parallel Port from a virtual machine of windows xp in windows 7 possible ?

In Labview 8.5 windows 7 there is no connectivity->ports menu i mean there's no inport.vi and outport.vi

so can i access these vi's by making a virtual machine of windows xp via windows 7 in VMware and then installing Labview in it ? will that work ?

i have seen tutorials about VISA .. can writing & reading be done to and from the parallel port using it in windows 7

i mean i need to use inport.vi and outport.vi so what is the alternate for these vi's in windows 7 and how do i use that alternative ?
